Brown Bagging It for Lunch

It has been stressful at work over the past couple of weeks with meetings on top of meetings, training, and more meetings.  I rarely go out for lunch with my co-workers since we are all across the country, so I bring a bag of WLS friendly goodies to have on hand.  I notice that I tend to eat several small meals now, rather than three large ones.  Each of us on this journey is different and you have to find what works best for you.

Some things that I bring in my handy dandy lunch bag are mini brie wheels, protein chips, sliced cucumbers, my protein shake, maybe a couple of slices of Turkey breast, and my thermos of iced coffee.  I can munch on these items throughout the day and not feel guilty about what I put in my mouth.  I also have a big cup at the desk that I fill with water and ice and I sip, sip, sip all day long.

Since it is now very obvious that I've lost weight - down 80lbs thank you very much! -- I'm getting comments about how much I eat, like "oh, you don't eat much!"  There are a few people at work with which I have discussed my surgery, and they encourage me to make the right choices.  They also try to eat better, too!  You still get those haters, though, that when you tell them you don't eat this or that, they still insist upon you having a little of it.  And having a little of this and a little of that is not the best thing for me since it gives me false hope.  My little sleeve can't handle all of the extra this and that because I get full so quickly.  It can only hold so much, and any WLS patient will tell you to focus on getting in the protein first and think about your other options after that.
