Christmas Time is Here

To me this Christmas lacks pizzazz. I really have no Christmas spirit, and I don't know if it is because I feel really tired, or I just don't feel Christmassy this year. I think I am not getting enough protein daily and it is taking its toll on me. I have felt very tired, lethargic, achy, muscles feel like mush, and all I want to do is sleeeeep. I've been working out over the past couple of days and after taking Zumba today, for the very first time, I just feel whooped! The weeks following surgery, I felt fantastic, but that feeling soon passed and now I just feel blech.
I did a search on Google for protein deficiency and it listed all of the symptom I listed earlier including flaky skin, edema, and hair loss. One website I viewed likened protein deficiency to malnutrition! I know... you're thinking about the pot-bellied children in Africa or Bangladesh; you don't attribute malnutrition to weight loss surgery! At least, not in my mind you don't.

Since I had my surgery, while I have noticed remarkable results, I started feeling really tired about two weeks later.  Most of the time, even though I am not hungry, I feel like I am starving myself.  Some days it really takes effort to even eat.  Then other days, I have massive cravings like I have been having this week.  I recognize the triggers in the cravings and try to deal with them, but I just too dayum tired and cranky.  I hate this feeling!  It is so hard to get in all of the protein I need daily because my stomach is so much smaller than it was a year ago.  I am supposed to have approximately 80g of protein a day.  That is a lot of protein for me to attempt to consume in one day!  I supplement protein shakes and bars, but it is hard to get in much more since most meat servings are per 3 ounces and I'm only able to eat 1/3 of that amount.  I eat small meals, protein first, but with the snug, in bug's rug pouch, it is really hard to get all of it into my system.

On Monday, I'm thinking I may go to my doctor for some labwork. I would be interested in getting some B12 shots just so I can have some extra energy to go and workout. I'll let you know how it goes.
